Clinical Herbalist Keyzom Bhutti Phunkyil graduated from the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute of the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India in 1972 and thus became Amjee, or doctor. She served as chief physician of the Institute in Darjeeling for 25 years. She is one of the most senior Tibetan doctors.
Amjee Bhutti was awarded the Senior Physicians Award in 1997 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama's Medical Institute for her dedicated services in the field of Tibetan Medicine for over 25 years. At the third and fifth International Congresses of Alternative Medicines in Calcutta, India, she was also awarded the Shiromani Award in 1995 and the Award of Excellence in 1997. She has received numerous other awards for her services in the field of alternative medicine and was a frequent speaker on health issues at the All India radio station.
In 1987 and 1988 Dr. Bhutti traveled for consultations to France, Belgium, England, Austria, Holland and the U.S.A. She relocated to the United States in 1998.
